SS08 ANARCHO TREK TOTE
Mountain research was founded by Japanese designer Kobayashi Setsumasa. Originally named General Research, Kobayashi would opt to change the name in 2005, citing his reason as wanting “To be focused on a particular subject, which is to say, not researching in ‘general,’ I terminated the line to start Mountain Research with a particular title: ‘Mountain.”
Mountain Research focuses on garments that are heavily inspired by the outdoors, creating pieces that are consistently utilitarian & designed to be fit for their purpose. For each season of garments, Kobayashi heads to the mountains of Japan to take inspiration from his surrounds. As the brand would develop, so would a narrative of hikers that go against the norm. The brand would dub its wearers as ‘Anarcho Mountaineers’, creating a brand & image that would come way before any gorpcore trend.
The Trek Tote from SS 2008 is constructed from 100% cotton, and features the signature ‘Anarcho’ logo printed on the front. The bag features a button closure, with a tie-able strap & Mountain Research tag that says “Low Minded Mountain Folk.
